Little Inferno in all honesty is a parody of iOS bus or commute gaming. It is now on iPad and seems like a good fit. When Little Inferno was released along with the Wii U I considered picking it up but the experience just seemed too shallow for console play. I really enjoyed World of Goo when it finally made its way to iOS.

This is perhaps not a must have, but if you like this genre I would consider it. As you find the key to each level the question is always whether you continue to explore (possibly revealing more monsters) or if you go straight to the next level. The game is not pushing any boundaries but it does offer some fun push your luck elements to the mix. You continue to go down row after row until your character is defeated. Dungelot is a sort of Minesweeper RPG where on each floor of the dungeon you must flip tiles to reveal treasures, traps, allies, and monsters, one of which is holding a key to the next floor.

10000000 and Dungeon Raid really started the addiction but it has continued to afflict me. I am sucker for all of the RPG + some other game genre mashups that appear on the app store almost weekly. I have really enjoyed it so far and recommend checking it out. The game is just bursting with courses and there is a lot to do here. Each hole has a par and just like golf you are aiming for a negative score at the end of each course. In each hand, or hole, the player is trying to end with as few cards left on the board as possible or completely clear the board.

Fairway Solitaire is a variant of the classic game that has players playing through a series of solitaire hands. This game has been out for quite a while and somehow I passed playing it at the time of release. If you are looking for an epic RPG experience to kill some time over the long weekend, I recommend this one. The world is fairly large and their interesting nooks and crannies to explore that have no relation to the quests in the game. The environments are detailed and the character models are great. The game, even on my lowly iPad 2 looks amazing. Ravensword: Shadowlands builds on the experience from the first game and Aralon to deliver an action based RPG experience. It has been much easier to get an iPad in my hands than an Xbox controller these days. There is a nagging question in the back of my mind while playing this title: why am I seeking a Skyrim experience on a tablet? Well, having a baby has changed my answer to that. If you are looking for a sort of throw back racer this is certainly worth checking out. It does not have amazing features, but its simplicity allows it to succeed. Table Top Racing is really just a basic kart racer, but by far the best of its kind of iOS. I will occasionally link to them in these columns so that you can check out some of the other titles for iOS that you may be interested in. This site gives me a chance to review titles we would usually not feature on BGG. I have been doing a few reviews for TGN (even though I am far from being a teenager) as they were hoping to start covering iOS. Be on the lookout for this on iPad very soon. This really is the first iOS title in a while that I can’t wait to play as soon as I get home each day. I will review the game upon release, but I just wanted to share my early impressions. One complaint is that some quests take long to complete just because of bad luck rolling dice. The built in quests not only teach mechanics but also offer a good gameplay flow. I understand the clamouring for multiplayer, but the developers have managed to make a focused single player experience. The game elements are taken very literally in some ways but I believe this is done to evoke nostalgia.

This version is the same single player experience found on PC just optimized for touch controls. I have been struggling to get the PC version of this up and running, so it is great to finally be able to try it on iPad.
